STORIES FROM AFRICA
I’m delighted to write that both Why Do Goats Climb Trees? and City of Myths, River of Dreams have been updated with additional material and are back on release in ebook and paperback, available from Amazon. So much has taken place in West Africa since the books were first published in 2007 and 2013 respectively, and not all of it for the good. Coups, counter-coups, increasing jihadist activity, and now a Russian mercenary force acting as Kremlin proxy. In the scrabble for Africa’s natural resources, this region of the continent is very much in the grip of a new Cold War.
Both books have been extensively edited with the help of Elizabeth Ward and Lynne Walker, and new covers designed by the Design for Writers team. Why Do Goats Climb Trees? contains eleven short stories relating to my travels throughout the African continent by either motorcycle or 4x4, covering a period of twenty years. City of Myths, River of Dreams recounts our drive to Timbuktu and beyond, following in the footsteps of those slightly unhinged, though exceptionally courageous, eighteenth and nineteenth century explorers searching for the lost city of gold. You can discover more about both titles in the Books page of the website. Meanwhile, below is a gallery of photos collected during those years of travel.
Enjoy the journey, wherever it may lead you.
